Control panel design has become increasingly sophisticated on the layout and the more recent panels were created using computer graphics software. Programs such as Paint Shop Pro and Photoshop were used to design detailed images which, when printed, form the basis of the panels.

The most recent panel to be constructed (that at Grey Havens station, see image on right) uses photographic paper, and was printed at a photo shop.
