Grey Havens locomotive sidings and safety systems.View of the Grey Havens locomotive sidings, at the east end of the station.

At the bottom of the image can be seen the end of the bridge that links this station to the rest of the layout. It is currently in the down (open) position, so the barrier is closed.

The building in the foreground contains the electrical safety systems that protect locomotives when the bridge and barrier positions are not safe. There are two microswitches sticking out of the walls of the building: one at the bottom-middle of the right-hand wall which operates when the bridge is closed and the other on the left edge of the left wall which operates when the barrier is closed.
For power to reach the track either the bridge must be in place and the barrier open, or if the bridge is down the barrier must be closed. No other combination works.

There are seven locomotives in this picture, illustrating the importance of this storage area. The locomotive nearest the building is No.34 'Pumpkin'.
